Interstate 40 East Closed After Accident

On March 7, 2023, the Enviro Medics Emergency Spill Response Team was dispatched to I-40 East near mile marker 158 for a tractor trailer accident involving two hazardous spills. The truck was actively leaking diesel onto the roadway and shoulder while also releasing wine cargo from the damaged trailer.

Our team arrived quickly and immediately began containment operations. Diesel was secured to prevent further roadway hazards, and special attention was given to the leaking wine to ensure it did not enter the nearby creek or surrounding environment. Through fast action and proper hazmat techniques, our crews successfully protected the area from contamination.

Once the scene was stabilized, Enviro Medics assisted with offloading the undamaged cargo so it could be returned to the shipper. This collaborative effort with other responders helped reduce the overall impact and cost of the incident.

Enviro Medics remains committed to rapid, effective response for diesel spills, cargo releases, and complex tractor trailer accidents across Tennessee.
