4,200-Gallon Fuel Transfer After Tanker Overturn | Enviro Medics Hazmat Team

On Monday, January 6th, the Enviro Medics Emergency Spill Response Team was dispatched to an overturned fuel tanker requiring immediate and specialized intervention. We were specifically requested for our hot tap capabilities, a critical operation used to siphon fuel directly from damaged or unstable tankers to make them safe for recovery.

Upon arrival, our technicians first grounded the truck to eliminate static hazards before initiating the hot tap process. Despite below-freezing temperatures, our team successfully tapped all four compartments of the tanker and safely transferred approximately 4,200 gallons of fuel—all in under four hours.

Cold conditions can make valves, fittings, and product lines difficult to manage, but our crew worked efficiently to overcome the challenges and secure the tanker without any additional spills or environmental impact.

Hot tapping is a specialized service that requires advanced training, industry-leading equipment, and strict safety procedures. It’s one of the many high-level capabilities that sets Enviro Medics apart in the hazmat response industry.

Enviro Medics LLC provides expert tanker incident response, fuel transfer operations, hot tapping, and hazardous materials cleanup across Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. When every minute matters, our team is ready with 24/7 emergency capabilities.
