180-Gallon Fuel Spill Cleanup After Tractor-Trailer Crash | Enviro Medics LLC

On May 18, the Enviro Medics Emergency Spill Response Team was dispatched to a significant tractor-trailer accident where a truck left the roadway and struck a tree in front of a residence. The impact caused a major release of petroleum products, requiring immediate action to protect the surrounding property and environment.

Our 24/7 hazmat response team arrived within 30 minutes and began working alongside the tow company and Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to contain the fuel and leaking fluids coming from the damaged vehicle. It was estimated that approximately 180 gallons of diesel fuel were released from the ruptured saddle tanks upon impact.

Because of the volume of fuel discharged and the sensitive location, our technicians remained on scene for 18 hours, performing extensive contaminated soil excavation to prevent the migration of petroleum into the homeowner’s yard and to save the tree directly affected by the crash. This incident required a larger, multi-day remediation effort to fully restore the area and ensure environmental compliance.

Through careful coordination, heavy equipment support, and expert remediation techniques, the site was returned to pre-incident conditions. The homeowner was extremely pleased with the final result, noting the care and professionalism of our team throughout the cleanup process.
