RV Crash Propane & Sewage Spill Cleanup on I-65 in Franklin | Enviro Medics
On April 17, the Enviro Medics Emergency Spill Response Team was dispatched to a serious RV accident on Interstate 65 Interstate 65 in Franklin, Tennessee Franklin. The crash resulted in two significant hazards: a ruptured black water (sewage) tank and a damaged, actively leaking propane tank.
Because the incident involved both hazardous gas and biological contamination, Enviro Medics was requested for our extensive propane experience and proven ability to treat, disinfect, and properly remediate sewage spills.
Our technicians arrived several hours into the incident and immediately worked alongside the fire department to:
Stop the propane leak
Safely flare the propane tank to neutralize remaining product
Contain and remediate the black water release
Sanitize and restore the affected roadway
Manage all environmental and safety hazards on site
Due to the complexity and high risk of the situation, the roadway was shut down for approximately one hour to ensure the scene could be made safe for motorists and responders. Even with the delayed request, our team made quick, efficient progress, mitigating all hazards and bringing the scene under control rapidly.
This incident showcased the depth of Enviro Medics’ capabilities—from propane incident management to sewage cleanup, environmental protection, and high-risk hazmat operations.
