Fuel Spill Closes Busy Interchange

On December 19 at approximately 9:00 am our Emergency Spill Response Team was requested to Bear Creek Pike and Interstate 65 for a large fuel spill. Upon arrival our team surveyed the site and found approximately 50 gallons of fuel was released from the vehicle and spread across 1500 feet of roadway. Our Team assisted the towing companies with making the vehicles safe to tow without leaks then started to treat the road and shoulder area. Using our equipment to their fullest capabilities the road was able to be reopened in 45 minutes and safe for travel.
